"...A steaming Jacuzzi awaited under a lavender-pink sky. Ella’s eyes darted from one
male to the next, scoping out her potential date. Was it the guy with the
three-foot dreadlocks emerging from his head? Maybe the guy sipping from two
beer cans simultaneously? Perhaps, it was the one being swooned over for
playing with the dogs?
“There
he is…”
Ella followed Sophia’s finger to the jacuzzi where
three candidates awaited..."
A skinny boy-ish man with
glasses and a mop, his friend, another mop minus the glasses and a hunk with
rippling muscles and the whole nine yards who just happened to be talking with
annoying Anne from book club. So which mop was it?..."

much as I want to work on “us”, this version of “us” only works as long as the
main character in our little play is you.
I feel like I’m the best supporting actress, but you are definitely the
Star. Perhaps I have been a major
contributing factor to that as well.
After all, I have been so intrigued by you, and I adore you, and am
“into” you so very much, that I have chosen to ignore how little attention you
actually pay to me, and how little affection you show to me. Yet you shower it generously on others daily. Have I made it seem acceptable somehow? Have I conveyed that I am okay with it, that
I don’t expect more, or I don’t need your affection and returned adoration to
be happy? If I have, then I must still
feel the need to be cautious around you.
Why? I crave you so much more
than I have evidently made you aware..."
